We recently had the pleasure of visiting Spa Zen, located at the Executive Hotel Cosmopolitan, in downtown Toronto, for some much needed rest and relaxation. We were hosted at this peaceful little nook for a 60-min besties massage (non-RMT in couples room: $140+hst CAD), and took advantage of the complimentary infrared sauna and jacuzzi access as well.
The ambiance is just as the name suggests - zen. It’s the kind of place where you can reset without all the unnecessary fuss and frills that often come with downtown spas. The check-in process was simple and quick, with helpful staff on standby.
The massage was wonderful (one of us may have snored) and the facilities were clean and easy to access. It was a true pleasure to enjoy some peace and self care together. It’s always disappointingly ironic when the layout, check-in process and vibe of a spa stresses you out, so we really appreciated that Spa Zen is intimate and uncomplicated.
Our tips for a smooth spa experience:
- Arrive early to complete any necessary forms; change; use bathroom etc.
- Try to schedule extra time for yourself before or after appointments to enjoy facilities and relax
- Have a clean/bare face (or bring cleanser and eye makeup remover + any skincare you’ll need)
- Bring your makeup, hair products, change of clothes if you’re planning to head out straight afterwards
- Have a hair-tie or clip on hand
- Pack your swimsuit
- Make sure your phone is on silent
- Drink some water before and after treatments
- It’s never a bad idea to have breath mints
They definitely live up to their name, and we highly recommend visiting Spa Zen the next time you need some calm among the chaos.
